Life is full of challenges and surprises.
I was raised by very disciplinarian parents, a father who works as a military officer and my mother, who is a BEED graduate but chose to be a plain housewife so that she could guide us as we grow up.
As I started going to school, they always reminded me that I should study hard and it meant always being a part of the honor roll. It was very tiring on my part, since I want to enjoy my childhood years, just playing with other kids, watch tv and the like. And so, I just followed what they want me to do and it made good results. During grade school years, I was always a part of the best in the class.
And then high school days came in. Again, the usual thing to do was to be on "top of the class." I really did study hard, but during that time in your life, you have lots of distraction namely your peers, crushes and very tough assignments, lessons and projects, and mentors whom we call "terror". But I have to bear all of those because my mom always tell me, "You should be the first in your class." And then the results for the first year honor students came in. They were very disappointed because I was only on the 4th spot. During the day of the awarding of honors, my parents didn't came, I was very ashamed and I cried after that.
That was a big turning point in my life.During my 2nd year in hs, I put more effort on my studies. I defeated the 3rd yr and 4th yr students in the Spelling and General Information contest and I became our school's representative for the competition among 21 schools on those areas. I did won as third place in both contests. And then the final honor roll came in. I was surprised because I was already the 1st honor in all the 2nd yr students. My heart was thumping with joy. My parents were so happy with my achievement, and they asked for forgiveness for what had happened the last year.
Because of this achievement, I really worked hard to maintain this and luckily, I graduated high school as the Class Valedictorian.
Life is indeed full of challenges and surprises.
